Call for aspiring & professional African Nova Scotian actors and singers
Shauntay Grant and 2b theatre company are looking for talent in the African Nova Scotian community. We are particularly, but not exclusively, interested in performers between the ages of 20 and 65.
Three activities are planned:
Seen & Heard: Open Call (Oct 1-2, 10am-6pm) A two day workshop for you to show your stuff and work with top instructors including Shauntay Grant, Jacob Sampson, and Ann-Marie Kerr. Workshop is free of charge, limited spaces available.
**Register for Seen & Heard at 2btheatre.com/the-bridge**
Mini Intensive (Week of Dec 5-9, 10am-6pm) Four selected participants are invited to a week-long, paid, professional development workshop. Develop and deepen your approach to acting and working as an ensemble. Instructor Cara Ricketts is a Toronto-based performer whose credits include four seasons at the Stratford Festival.
The Bridge Script and Staging workshop (Two Weeks: Feb 12-25) Playwright Shauntay Grant and director Anthony Black work with a cast of performers in two weeks of development work on Shauntay’s seven character play The Bridge, culminating in a work-in progress showing. Set in a fictional Black Nova Scotian community, The Bridge examines family relationships strained over 20 years of secrecy, sin, and shame.
Participation in the Seen & Heard and Mini-Intensive are not essential to being cast in the Script and Staging workshop, but are a good way for us to see you and start to develop an artistic relationship. If you are interested in being considered for the Mini-intensive or Script and Staging workshop but are not available for Seen & Heard, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 902-453-6267.
