Events & Workshop

June 18, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On Thursday, June 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission and Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs (ANSA) in partnership with the Association of Black Social Workers (ABSW) are pleased to host a province wide African Nova Scotian Community Wellness Check-in.

This check-in is an opportunity for people of African descent to gather online in response to racial tension and trauma we are experiencing due to the brutal murder of George Floyd by police in the United States, further injustices that followed this violent act, and historic and current anti-Black racism in Nova Scotia.

In this space, we are welcome to share with each other the pain, hurt, anger, mental fatigue, and sadness we have been carrying as a result of these events. During the conversation facilitated by Sen. Wanda Thomas Bernard, we will offer each other collective support recognizing that we stand together and are not alone.
