The East Preston Empowerment Academy (EPEA) is a community based non-profit organization. Our mission is to assist adult learners in upgrading their academic skills and qualifications for future employment and entrepreneurial pursuits. We also actively encourage and equip our learners to seek the highest level of education possible, regardless of their lack of past accomplishments or the barriers that kept them from achieving their goals. We partner with various government departments, corporations, and individuals who provide funding, time and resources. Using an Africentric focus, we seek to empower and equip members of our community with the necessary skills, tools and confidence to fulfill their lifelong dreams, with specific focus on skill and trade development, adult learning and youth academic enrichment.
Now, East Preston Empowerment Academy is seeking its first Executive Director to lead the organization forward in advancing its important mission to assist trades people and adult learners in gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain meaningful and optimal employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. EPEA also encourages and supports youth to enhance their opportunities for academic success. Working closely with the Board of Directors of the EPEA you will provide day-to-day leadership and oversight to EPEA activities, operations and programs to meet the goals and objectives of the organization. You will lead staff and volunteers to create an inspired, engaged and committed team. Your primary focus will be facilitating the successful implementation of the major funded programs such as Pathways to the Trades and other projects. You will demonstrate your innovation and initiative by leading and developing other programs such as Distance Education and other methods to enhance and expand on the organization’s mission, including preparing the necessary funding proposals and developing plans.
As the ideal candidate, you must have previous experience leading of managing a team, the ability to establish trust and connect with others in a meaningful way, either one-on-one, in small groups, or speaking publicly on behalf of an organization. You must have a proven ability to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners alike. You must bring solid business and proposal development acumen and experience providing effective financial and operational leadership within an organization.
Full Time: 35-40 Hours per week, beginning Monday, July 13, 2020 – June 30, 2021. This term agreement is open to renewal, based on available resources and satisfactory performance.
Position Requirements Education: University degree or equivalent experience required. A specialization or focus in Adult Education, Trades Education and/or Business Development would be an asset.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 per year
