General Labourer (Site Services) The Company For more than 40 years, MacGregors Industrial Group has been a leading provider of machining and metal fabrication solutions to the manufacturing, energy, mining, forestry and construction industries.  Our goal is to add value and build trust with our clients. Located in Nova Scotia, our markets reach throughout North America and into export markets. The Opportunity We are looking for a General Laborer to take up manual labor tasks and support Site Service Operations on worksites in the field.  One of the most important general laborer responsibilities is to collect debris and other waste to keep the job site clean and safe. Individual must contain the stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads and complete manual labour for minimum 8hr days 5 days per week. You are required to take direction from site specific supervisors (not always the same person) and complete tasks with little supervision.  The ability to concentrate on performing your tasks and commit to safety rules is a must. If you fit this description, and you’re also interested in doing tough but important work, we’d like to meet you. This position reports directly to the immediate Site Supervisor (in the field) while on site, and to the Site Services Operations team when not on site. Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
  2. Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site
  3. Handle and transport materials and equipment
  4. Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
  5. Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods)
  6. Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
  7. Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
Requirements
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.)
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety rules
