Job Developer – Full Time (37.5 hours) – Kentville, NS   INTERNAL POSTING   The Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre, delivered by Community Inclusion Society, is seeking a JOB DEVELOPER to join our diverse and dynamic team.   We are looking for an individual who is passionate about assisting job seekers and employers to create a job match that meets the skills and requirements of both and support employment success. The Job Developer serves a pivotal role within the Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre service model.   As a Job Developer, you will assist job-seekers, who face barriers to employment, in connecting to meaningful employment while you create and maintain strong supportive partnerships with employers. The Job Developer creates a crucial link between the agencies supporting job seekers and the local business community. Job developers need to be equipped to support diverse clients while also meeting the needs of diverse employers. As a Job Developer, you need to demonstrate a high degree of integrity, have high initiative, very organized and have a passion for developing connections and seeing people and employers be successful. The Job Developer will work closely and collaboratively with the internal team, as well as with Job Developers and Employment Engagement Specialists within Nova Scotia Works and other community organizations, in addition to local business associations, economic development organizations and sector councils.   Mandatory Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in the field of employment related services, social services or business related fields – this can be combined in the areas of paid employment, volunteer and applicable training
  • Post-secondary education in a social services or business related field or an acceptable combination of experience and training.
  • A clean criminal record check
  • Experience working with a diverse client base, in particular marginalized populations
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate evening networking opportunities and early morning event set ups, as required.
  Skills Required:
  • Above average interpersonal and judgment skills
  • Strong and effective communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to balance the needs of job seekers with the needs of employers to create a job match for the success of both
  • Awareness of barriers to employment; individual and societal
  • Experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of programming available through Employment Nova Scotia
  • Accurate record keeping practices
  • Workshop preparation and facilitation experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A commitment to life-long learning
  • Solid understanding of Labour Market Information and its applications.
  • Good knowledge of local employers, community organizations, service providers, and referral agencies.
  • Knowledge of effective job search strategies and the ability to sell / package ideas.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Strong computer skills, with the ability to work in a computerized environment using MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook programs and the LaMPSS database.
